When I first started experimenting with video, the influences around me where heavily into abstraction and minimalism. I started there because it felt natural to explore the medium from a root base of light and movement, which slowly bridged into more conceptual, rather than aesthetic abstraction in my work.

One day I took a 16mm projector and decided to shoot video. I decided to capture the rhythm of the light, frame by frame, as it permeated through, or hit the surface of objects.

After I videotaped the projector light, I decided to photograph that video, and other videos I was working on at the time. Conversion Series is a term for a group of photographic works made from re-photographing video onto medium format film
